Q1 - I have a question about superstitions in Islam. Since my chilldhood, I have been hearing that I have to eat with three fingers instead of two as the latter is a bad omen. They say that if you don’t eat with your shahada finger, an elder in your family will lose his or her life. Al hamdulilah I don’t believe this stuff, but please guide me on this.
A - In general, Islam does not support superstitious ideas/practices/beliefs. However, we have lots of traditions that are a mixture of truth and local culture. As long as they dont go against Islamic teachings, you can follow these practices as a sign of respect for your elders and not as an actual truth.
