Q1 - I have a question regarding wudu and nail polish. Most scholars say that wudu is not valid with nail polish because water cannot reach the nail because the nail polish is creating a barrier. But what if water is able to pass through the nail, then is our wudu acceptable then? I did an experiment where i put nail polish on two different materials, a thick tissue paper and a t shirt. I then put water on the nail polish on the tissue paper and t shirt, and on both, the water passes through the nail polish and wet the tissue and shirt. Does that mean that water can pass through nail polish and our wudu is acceptable?
A - Anything that is a barrier for water to reach the skin will make wudhu invalid. The hands and nails must be washed with water which nail polish prevents water from doing.
