Marriage with Non-Muslims
-
Q1 - Can a Muslim Shia Women marry a Christian Man? Is there any other way possible?
A - In a marriage, there are three main pillars for compatibility: religion, akhlaq (characters and morals) and appearance. Marriage itself has many challenges and if you add more differences and the level of compatibility weakens, it becomes more difficult to maintain a healthy marriage. This may cause long term difficultiesand it might be unfair to your husband if you practice a different faith and also expect your household to practice the faith. Marriage is sacred and the outcome is for this world, the next and future generations. From a fiqh or Islamic lawperspective, a Shia woman cannot marry a Christian man.
